Minimal shoe with sock

Minimal support shoes? Author experience Part 1

First, a definition of minimal shoes

If a shoe is very light in weight, highly flexible and constructed in a way to permit good grip with comfort, it could be classed as minimal footwear.

And no, the photo accompanying this article is not what the GeriTraK authors wear, but is just a bit of humor on our part.

Further, this type of shoe is often constructed so well they are capable of good lifespan when used for long walks, jogging and trail running as well as everyday wear.

It is true that there has been bad publicity about these types of shoe in the past and also that minimal shoes may be hard to find in stores.

We at GeriTraK declare a personal experience using minimal type shoes, including quite extreme use such as multi-day all weather hiking at altitude in Peru (Salkantay 5 day trek, Macchu Picchu, and Rainbow Mountain) along with other hikes.
